About the Role
We are searching for experienced bioprocess scientists/engineers to join our Bioprocess Development team to scale up the production process from bench to production scale. You will be in charge of optimizing fermentation and culture media to maximize production.
Design and execute scale-up/scale-down (from bench to production scale fermentation), optimize process conditions and culture media formula to maximize performance of strains to meet production and specification goals.
Conduct data analysis using statistical tools to understand key factors affecting fermentation results and provide directions on DOE to improve fermentation titer, yield or other targets.
Create and manage a fermentation database. This includes both online and offline fermentation process and analysis data. Interpret, present the data, and draw appropriate conclusions.
Interact with cross-functional teams such as Strain Development and Product Formulation to share knowledge and transfer materials. Engage in inter-team feedback to drive iterative refinement of all processes toward product goals.
Participate in the tech transfer and scale up of fermentation technology to manufacturing scale, working effectively with third party manufacturers and parties. Participate in creating Tech Transfer documentation.
Review literature to make appropriate technical recommendations for application adoption.
M.S./Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Bioprocessing, Fermentation Engineer, Microbiology, or related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of experience in bio-process development is required.
Hands on experience in fermentation scaling up, condition optimization, and culture medium optimization, preferably recombinant proteins in microbial hosts.
Ability to execute DOE for optimized microbial growth and production.
Solid knowledge of microbial genetics, physiology and molecular biology and strong aseptic concepts as applied to fermentation.
Understand pathway modeling and metabolic flux analysis.
Strong computer skills including MS office and data analysis software is required.
Ability to work independently as well as excellent organizational and planning skills are required. Eagerness to work collaboratively on a team of experts while adapting to the fast-paced needs of an early-stage startup.
Flexibility in working hours as required by experiments.
Good in English, both reading and writing.
